Crying Woman by Picasso

Bottom of the Barrel
Jade Blackmore

When you scrape
The bottom of the barrel
Desperate to
Recreate the
Intricacies of the past
When you slip
Manicured hands
Through the dirt and fray
To pluck a
Sticky piece of
from the murky depths.
You’re still
Through garbage
No matter how deceptively sweet
The prize.

From the poetry e-book Parking Lots Remind Me of You
